Longman Law has filed class action lawsuits against General Motors, OnStar, LexisNexis Risk Solutions, and Verisk Analytics for their surreptitious collection and sale of private information concerning driving behavior without the drivers’ consent. GM and OnStar sell the data to the consumer reporting agencies LexisNexis and Verisk, who in turn sell the data to insurance carriers. Insurance carriers can use this information to charge drivers higher rates and premiums.
Longman Law brought claims against GM and OnStar for unfair trade practices, breach of contract, invasion of privacy, and unjust enrichment. We also brought claims against LexisNexis and Verisk for violations of the Fair Credit Reporting Act for failing to ensure the accuracy of the driving data provided in consumer reports.
If you are enrolled in OnStar services and have seen your information appear in a consumer report without your consent, or have experienced an increase in your insurance rates as a result of information that your carrier has received about your driving habits, please fill out the form below, or contact Howard Longman at hlongman@longman.law or alongman@longman.law or by phone at (973) 994-2315.
